IHCL Goa Resorts and Bisleri Collaborate on Sustainability Project

Hospitality chain Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) Goa Resorts has partnered with Indian drinks company Bisleri International to unveil a noteworthy sustainability-focused project. Named the ‘Bench of Dreams’, this initiative centers around the creation and installation of benches crafted entirely from recycled plastic bottle caps.

The uniqueness of these benches is further enhanced by backdrops adorned with paintings from the talented artists associated with the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA). This creative touch not only highlights the artistic potential of recycled materials but also supports artists with disabilities, showcasing their impressive skills.

IHCL Goa operations Senior Vice-President, Ranjit Phillipose, stated: “Sustainability is at the core of IHCL’s Paathya initiatives, and our collaboration with Bisleri International exemplifies our dedication to creating tangible change. Through the ‘Bench of Dreams’ project, we aim to inspire individuals and organizations to think innovatively about recycling and to join us in building a greener tomorrow.”

The collaboration effectively merges Bisleri International’s expertise in plastic recycling with IHCL Goa Resorts’ commitment to embracing sustainable practices. This synergy is evident as “environmentally responsible” benches find strategic placements across Taj Holiday Village Resort & Spa and Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and promoting environmental responsibility.

Highlighting the importance of this initiative, Bisleri International CEO, Angelo George, commented: “This project highlights our commitment to closing the loop in plastic waste management and showcases how innovative solutions can drive sustainable development and a circular economy. Through this collaboration, IHCL and Bisleri International invite all stakeholders, guests, and residents to join us on this transformative journey. Together, we aspire to create a future where sustainability is an integral part of everyday life.”

At the crux of the ‘Bench of Dreams’ project is a shared vision for a sustainable world. By integrating recycled materials into functional and artistic expressions, this collaboration emphasizes the potential of innovative solutions in the realm of waste management and sustainability. It serves as a rallying call to guests and residents alike to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle.

This initiative aligns with larger ecological goals and signifies a corporate commitment to environmental stewardship and the advancement of a circular economy. By transforming everyday objects, such as plastic bottle caps, into something of utility and beauty, IHCL and Bisleri step into a pioneering role in the sustainability narrative.

The broader significance of this project is underscored by the mounting need for actionable solutions in addressing global waste challenges. With growing concerns over plastic pollution, efforts like the ‘Bench of Dreams’ reflect not only a commitment to sustainability but also highlight proactive practices that others in the industry can emulate.

Further demonstrating its dedication to expanding its sustainable operations, IHCL recently unveiled plans for a new hotel under its Gateway brand in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. This venture is part of a conversion project designed to tap into the region’s burgeoning tourism market, further expanding IHCL’s footprint and sustainable tourism efforts.

The ‘Bench of Dreams’ initiative and the signing of the new hotel relate to IHCL’s broader strategic commitments toward sustainability, community engagement, and innovation within the hospitality sector.

In summary, the partnership between IHCL Goa Resorts and Bisleri International is setting a new benchmark for sustainability by turning waste into creative, usable art. The ‘Bench of Dreams’ serves as a tangible testament to what can be achieved when innovation, sustainability, and collaboration intersect, paving the way for a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.
