Tesla’s Workforce Expansion in Mexico: A Step Toward Global Manufacturing and Sales Enhancement

Tesla is growing its Mexico team once more

Tesla, the renowned electric vehicle manufacturer, is set to increase its workforce in Mexico, signaling a significant move towards the expansion of its operations in the region. This comes at a time when the company is steering towards the inauguration of its Gigafactory in Mexico, marking a monumental step in Tesla’s commitment to broadening its manufacturing and sales footprint around the globe.

On Tesla’s official Careers page, several new job openings have recently been posted, specifically targeting locations in Mexico such as Mérida in Yucatan, Naucalpan in Estado De México, and Monterrey in Nuevo Leon. Among the positions listed, Tesla Advisors are notably prominent, underscoring the importance Tesla places on its sales and customer support division. This team is vital, directly interfacing with potential customers and playing a pivotal role in Tesla’s customer engagement strategy.

The call for Tesla Advisors in Mexico outlines a dynamic and engaging role. Candidates are expected to be well-versed in Tesla’s product suite, capable of educating potential customers about the company’s offerings. Moreover, the role is not confined to the showroom; Advisors are expected to venture outside traditional retail environments, conducting test drives and hosting external promotional events. Experience has shown that allowing customers to test drive Tesla vehicles significantly boosts sales, as it provides a firsthand taste of what makes Tesla’s electric vehicles extraordinary.

“As a Tesla Advisor, you will be responsible for introducing our products to buyers and influencers and quickly growing the sales footprint of our current and future products the market. As a Sales Advisor you will function with the use of a shared test drive car from the store, working with the CEM and Store Leader to grow both retail and fleet sales. As a sales advisor, you will also visit potential customers outside of the store, holding external test drive events from time to time,” detailed the job listing on Tesla’s career portal.

This recruitment drive comes after a brief pause in hiring earlier this year, related to CEO Elon Musk’s efforts to streamline the company’s operations. By trimming the workforce, Musk aimed to enhance efficiency and ensure Tesla was well-prepared to embark on what he characterizes as not just the next chapter but an entirely new book for the electric vehicle powerhouse.

However, recent activities on Tesla’s Careers page suggest that the pause in hiring might be over, with the company once again looking to bolster its team across various departments. This resurgence is not limited to Mexico alone; in the United States, Tesla has resumed recruitment across a spectrum of roles, including Manufacturing, Vehicle Service, Energy – Solar & Storage, AI & Robotics, Sales & Customer Support, Operations & Business Support, Engineering & Information Technology, and Supply Chain.

The expansion of Tesla’s team in Mexico reinforces the company’s strategic direction and growth plans. By strengthening its presence and enhancing its operational capabilities in Mexico, Tesla is not just investing in the future of electric vehicles but is also committing to a significant market with vast potential. With the upcoming Gigafactory, Tesla is set to further cement its position as a leader in sustainable transportation, bringing innovative technologies and eco-friendly vehicles closer to consumers in Mexico and beyond.
