Mitsubishi Partners with PTT to Enhance E-Mobility in Thailand
In a strategic move to bolster the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Thailand, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is stepping up its efforts through a promising collaboration with PTT and Arun Plus. This partnership is set to explore numerous facets of the e-mobility domain, including local production, domestic sales, export operations, and supplementary mobility services. This initiative is geared towards supporting Thailand’s ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality, marking a significant step forward for the country’s automotive and energy sectors.
Renowned for its influential presence in the Thai energy industry and an extensive understanding of the automotive market, PTT is poised to bring invaluable expertise to this collaboration. With its innovative EV ecosystem concept, PTT is at the forefront of the drive towards a more sustainable future in transportation. On the other hand, Mitsubishi Motors is aggressively pushing its electric vehicle strategy, recognizing the immense potential for synergistic collaboration in electric vehicle production and mobility services with its new partners.
Reflecting on the partnership, Takao Kato, the President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors, highlighted the strategic importance of Thailand as a pivotal market for Mitsubishi’s global operations. “Thailand plays an integral role in Mitsubishi Motors’ international strategy. For over six decades, we have been an active participant in the country’s economy through our automotive endeavors. By joining hands with PTT and Arun Plus, we aim to pool our collective experiences and resources to not only spur Thailand’s economic growth but also further its aspirations for achieving carbon neutrality,” Kato elucidated.
In a remarkable stride towards enhancing the EV infrastructure in Thailand, PTT’s affiliate, PTT Oil and Retail Business, disclosed plans in 2023 to unveil the nation’s most extensive electric vehicle charging network. Ambitiously aiming to set up 7,000 charging outlets by 2030, this initiative is expected to significantly ease the transition to electric vehicles for the population, thereby accelerating the country’s progression towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.
This collaboration encapsulates the concerted efforts of Mitsubishi Motors, PTT, and Arun Plus to redefine Thailand’s automotive landscape through the promotion of electric vehicles. By fostering a robust e-mobility ecosystem, this partnership is set to pave the way for Thailand’s swift move towards a greener future, aligning with global trends and environmental objectives.
