Kerala-based Startup, ‘chargeMOD,’ Accelerates Its Expansion With 1,200 New EV Chargers Across India
In an exciting development for India’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape, Kerala-based energy tech startup, ‘chargeMOD,’ has announced ambitious plans for a significant expansion across the country. As a testament to its commitment to advancing the availability and convenience of EV charging infrastructure, ‘chargeMOD’ intends to install 1,200 additional EV chargers, enhancing its presence throughout India and specifically in Kerala.
The startup revealed its expansion strategy which includes a plan to deploy an additional 1,000 slow chargers and 200 fast chargers in numerous states across India. For its home state of Kerala, ‘chargeMOD’ aims to add 500 slow chargers and 100 fast chargers. This initiative comes on top of the existing network that comprises 1,500 charging stations in Kerala and 2,000 stations spanning India.
With an innovative approach to EV charging solutions, ‘chargeMOD’ is poised to introduce Ultra Fast Chargers, offering capacities ranging from 120 kW to 340 kW. This advancement promises to significantly reduce charging times, thereby enhancing the overall user experience for EV owners across the nation.
M Ramanunni, CEO and Co-Founder of ‘chargeMOD,’ shared insights on the journey of the startup, which originated from a project led by four engineering students and has evolved into a remarkable entrepreneurial endeavor. Despite facing challenges from the influx of inexpensive imported chargers, ‘chargeMOD’ has remained committed to balancing quality with affordability, striving to become a key player in the EV charging sector.
Ramanunni expressed pride in setting new benchmarks within the electric vehicle charging industry by developing a comprehensive ecosystem that encompasses both hardware and software solutions made in India. This holistic approach underscores ‘chargeMOD’s’ dedication to reliability and efficiency, ensuring a seamless charging experience for its users.
The strategic placement of AC slow chargers and DC fast chargers within accessible distances illustrates chargeMOD’s commitment to making EV charging more convenient for motorists across the country. With slow chargers available within every 5 km and fast chargers within every 50 km, ‘chargeMOD’ is significantly enhancing the accessibility of EV charging infrastructure nationwide.
The company boasts an impressive track record, having facilitated over four million kilometers of emission-free travel through its charging network. With more than 120 new subscribers joining daily, ‘chargeMOD’ has successfully prevented over 995 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions and conserved more than 160,000 liters of gasoline.
‘chargeMOD’ proudly stands as the first company in Kerala to have developed an indigenous mobile app dedicated to EV charging stations, offering a user-friendly interface for EV owners. The startup’s expansive network now reaches over 2,000 charging stations across 10 states in India, offering customer support in six languages and includes 150 fast charging stations.
