Moment Factory illuminates living museum with “Village Parallèle” multimedia nighttime experience

Moment Factory, a multimedia entertainment studio renowned for its conception and production of immersive environments, has unveiled a new nighttime multimedia experience at Village Québécois d’Antan, a living museum that provides a window into the life of French-speaking Quebec from the 19th and early 20th centuries. This innovative project dubbed “Village Parallèle” introduces visitors to a unique exploration of the museum under the enchantment of the night sky.

Established in 1977, Village Québécois d’Antan is nestled in Quebec, Canada, and recreates a historical hamlet with 70 buildings that span from 1810 to 1930. This beloved tourist destination is not only known for its authentic glimpse into the past but also for hosting immersive events such as the Summer Village, Sugar Village, and Haunted Village. These attractions, combined with its offerings of group activities, event spaces, and both retail and dining options, make it a comprehensive cultural experience.

The innovative “Village Parallèle” experience aims to amplify this already rich historical and cultural site with an emphasis on evening explorations. According to Francois Morel, a producer at Moment Factory, this project showcases the studio’s dedication to elevating heritage tourism through the amalgamation of historical authenticity and state-of-the-art immersive technology. The initiative not only seeks to introduce something novel and engaging for visitors but also to attract a broader audience by expanding the museum’s appeal into the night.

The conception of “Village Parallèle” marks the second phase of collaboration between Moment Factory and Village Québécois d’Antan. The initial partnership focused on providing creative and technological enrichments to the Village’s daytime offerings without compromising its historic authenticity. Since then, the museum has witnessed a significant increase in attendance, rising by 34%.

The latest project from Moment Factory has transformed the Village into an enchanting nighttime wonder. Through innovative technology, the museum’s structures serve as the backdrop for a narrative closely tied to the Village’s historical and cultural significance. Visitors can immerse themselves in light installations, video projections, scenographic enhancements, and unique soundscapes, offering a contemporary twist to the museum’s traditional setting.

Beyond extending the Village’s operational hours, “Village Parallèle” opens up the historical site to a new demographic by encouraging social interactions and bonding among friends and families. While the museum maintains its kid and family-friendly ambiance during the day, at night, it transitions into a vibrant venue that promises an engaging and enjoyable experience for a younger audience and groups looking for an evening adventure.

The project also aims to bolster the local economy by drawing in increased tourist traffic, leveraging Moment Factory’s prowess in immersive technology as a major attraction. By doing so, “Village Parallèle” not only enriches the cultural landscape but also supports community growth and engagement.

In a display of its versatile capabilities, Moment Factory also announced a collaboration with UNICEF USA earlier, introducing an interactive walkthrough called Heart Strings. This experience, powered by the universal language of music, shares the stories of children around the world, demonstrating the studio’s commitment to utilizing multimedia as a means for education, connection, and inspiration across borders, cultures, and languages.

The “”Village Parallèle”” experience at Village Québécois d’Antan is a testament to the evolving nature of museum experiences, where history and technology converge to create unforgettable moments. Visitors leaving the museum’s gates return into the present deeply moved by their journey through time—a journey illuminated, quite literally, by the innovative spirit of Moment Factory.
