17th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum Kicks Off in UAE
The 17th edition of the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum commenced on Thursday in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. This significant event draws together policymakers, business moguls, and academics from Europe and Asia, focusing on fostering economic and cultural ties across the Eurasian region.
Held under the theme “New Cooperation Architecture for Contemporary Economy,” the forum focuses on addressing pressing global challenges. Discussions revolve around critical topics including energy management, financial systems, infrastructure development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence innovations, food security strategies, and environmental protection measures. This broad agenda highlights the comprehensive nature of the forum and its relevance to both regional and global economies.
At the opening ceremony, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member of the UAE and ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, delivered a powerful keynote speech. He drew attention to the UAE’s remarkable progress over the past few decades, emphasizing its development into a major hub for international economic, cultural, and tourism initiatives. Sheikh Saud underscored continuous efforts by the UAE to bolster its role as a central figure in the global economy, promoting a business-friendly environment that encourages international cooperation and investment.
Adding to the forum’s prestige, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the attendees through a congratulatory letter. He commended the forum’s theme, emphasizing the precious need for a global economic system anchored on the principles of equality and justice. President Putin advocated for an economic transition that eschews discrimination, sanctions, and undue pressure, instead offering mutual benefits rather than accommodating just a privileged few. His message aligned with the overarching objective of the forum to foster an inclusive and equitable economic landscape.
Antonio Fallico, president of the Conoscere Eurasia Association, further elaborated on the theme by discussing the unfolding global scenario marked by a decisive move from a unipolar world order to one characterized by multipolarity. Fallico stressed the amplified significance of regional globalization and the growing influence of cross-regional markets. He underlined the imperative of international cooperation in the face of these evolving geopolitical realities, urging stakeholders to adapt to these transformations actively.
Since its inception in 2007 in Verona, Italy, the forum has been dedicated to fostering economic and cultural bonds across Eurasia. This year’s event, co-hosted by the Conoscere Eurasia Association, the Roscongress Foundation, and the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, continues this tradition. Running until December 6, the forum promises to offer ample opportunities for participants to engage in meaningful discussions, build networks, and explore avenues for cooperation.
As this forum unfolds, it not only strengthens existing connections but also paves the way for new collaborations that can address the complex challenges of the contemporary economy. Delegates and participants are poised to leverage this platform to exchange insights, drive innovation, and contribute to a more integrated and prosperous Eurasian economic landscape.
