EtihadWE Leads Energy Sector Towards Sustainability at World Future Energy Summit

At the forefront of the discussion on the future of energy, Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) played a significant role in shaping the dialogue at the World Future Energy Summit which convened in Abu Dhabi from the 16th to the 18th of April. This summit serves as a pivotal platform, drawing together thought leaders, innovators, and solutions from across the globe to address the evolving challenges and opportunities within the energy sector. With a steadfast dedication to nurturing a sustainable energy future, EtihadWE showcased its latest initiatives and technological advancements designed to support the energy sector’s transition towards more sustainable practices.

The summit witnessed engaging discussions led by EtihadWE’s senior team, including insights from Eng. Yousif Al Ali, CEO, and Ahmed Alsuwaidi, Vice President of Asset Management. Their involvement in panels underscored the critical themes of low-carbon energy transmission over long distances and the crucial role of private sector collaboration in developing a sustainable and diversified economy. Eng. Yousif Al Ali emphasized the strategic importance of multi-country energy corridors, highlighting them as not just substantial investment avenues but essential tools for facilitating resource exchange, fostering regional stability, and driving economic growth.

In a pivotal moment at the summit, EtihadWE underscored its commitment to renewable energy and sustainable economic progression through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company). This agreement signifies a mutual endeavor towards exploring collaborative projects aimed at boosting renewable energy adoption across the UAE’s northern emirates, marking a significant milestone in the regional push for sustainability.

Beyond the engaging panel discussions, EtihadWE captivated attendees with an immersive exhibition showcase. The exhibition highlighted the innovative edge of EtihadWE’s energy solutions, focusing on smart grid technology, renewable energy platforms, and efficiency measures that set new standards in customer engagement. Among the technological showcases was ‘Edris’ – an AI Avatar powered by ChatGPT technology, offering interactive support and insights into EtihadWE’s projects and services.

The summit also served as a stage for influential thought leaders to present on various critical aspects of the energy sector. Dr. Najib H Dandachi, CEO of Al Usul Ltd., elucidated the evolving landscape of asset management within the GCC, while Youssef Souissi, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at EtihadWE, delineated the company’s strategic approach to minimizing non-revenue water (NRW).

Reflecting on the successful participation in the World Future Energy Summit, Eng. Yousif Al Ali summarized the event’s significance to EtihadWE’s vision: “A sustainable future is a collective journey, necessitating concerted effort and innovation. The World Future Energy Summit provided us an invaluable platform to demonstrate our commitment to leading the charge in adopting innovative technologies, advancing customer service, and implementing renewable initiatives. Our participation is a testament to our resolve in steering the utilities sector towards a more sustainable and technology-driven future.”

Through its dynamic participation in the World Future Energy Summit, EtihadWE has firmly positioned itself as a visionary leader committed to driving the energy sector towards a brighter, more sustainable future. The initiatives and insights shared by EtihadWE echo its resolve in embracing cutting-edge technologies and renewable solutions, underpinning its dedication to fostering economic growth and regional stability through sustainable energy practices.
