The Prague Civil Society Centre stands at the forefront of empowering and supporting civil society and independent media across Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Operating in some of the most challenging environments, their mission is to ensure that activists and journalists have the backing they need to bring about change and report with freedom. In an era where many are facing oppressive attempts to silence their voices, the Centre’s work has never been more critical.

Supporting a Spectrum of Independent Media

Spanning a vast geographic swath from Poland to Kyrgyzstan, the Prague Civil Society Centre collaborates with an array of independent media outlets. These range from prominent brands and exiled newsrooms to niche projects and dynamic social media campaigns. Utilizing platforms such as YouTube, Telegram, and Instagram, among others, the Centre’s partners persist in delivering critical content, albeit under the constant threat of censorship and suppression.

In light of these challenges, the Centre is on the lookout for a Media Impact Officer who can bring a quantitative approach to the fortification of these media projects.

The Role of the Media Impact Officer

The Media Impact Officer will play a pivotal role in the evaluation and enhancement of our media initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a quantitative results framework designed to monitor and evaluate the progress of media partners effectively.
  • Creating metrics and research tools aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of the audiences served by these initiatives.
  • Crafting strategies to aid our partners in expanding their reach and resonance among broader audiences.

This data-driven position is essential for the Centre’s efforts to provide impactful support, enabling our partners to realize their potential and to continue their invaluable work under difficult circumstances.

Join Our Team

The Prague Civil Society Centre is offering a full-time position (40 hours per week) for this vital role, located in the heart of Prague. The salary is set at CZK 57,000 full-time, varying according to experience and the unique value brought by the candidate. Moreover, the package includes enticing benefits such as 25 days of annual leave, unlimited sick leave, contributions towards language courses, and further development opportunities.

Candidates interested in applying are required to submit a detailed CV in English, alongside a concise (maximum of 1 page) motivation letter. This letter should illustrate how the candidate fulfills the outlined criteria and the strengths they would contribute to the role. This process is aimed at finding the right fit as soon as possible, with a preferential start date of September 2024 or earlier. Assessments and interviews will proceed on a rolling basis until the ideal candidate is selected.

It is important to note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. A preference will be given to applicants with access to the Czech labour market. Furthermore, it’s pivotal to submit a complete application, including the requisite motivation letter, to ensure consideration for this position.
