Organizations Partner for Hallmark Hometown Huladays

This month, a winter wonderland is set to descend upon Court Street, courtesy of a unique collaboration among three community powerhouses: Friends of Portsmouth (FOP), Main Street Portsmouth in Bloom (MSPiB), and the Scioto County Visitor’s Bureau. Together, they’re rolling out an enchanting ‘Christmas in July’ event packed with festive activities designed for community members of all ages.

The Hallmark Hometown Huladays aims to bring the joyous spirit of Christmas to the heart of summer, promising an evening filled with music, delicious food, and a host of Christmassy delights. The local band Wild Son is slated to fill the air with melodies, complemented by mouth-watering offerings from Scioto Ribber, including a visit from “Summer Santa”, creating special edition ornaments, and engaging the community in making ornaments for the grand Winterfest Christmas tree.

Attendees have the opportunity to immerse themselves fully in the festivities. With tickets priced at $25, guests can enjoy the music, stage tours, and various events. For an added treat, a $50 ticket not only grants access to the aforementioned delights but also includes a meal prepared by the renowned Scioto Ribber.

“This is a family-friendly celebration crafted to not only bring joy but also to raise funds for holiday decorations,” shared FOP Executive Director Bryan Smith. He further detailed the array of activities set for the evening, including face painting, a snow cone truck, and a beer garden, underscoring the event’s aim to offer a festive Christmas in July experience.

Emily Uldrich, MSPiB Executive Director, expressed enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its significance as a fundraiser for future holiday attractions. She recalled conversations with community members longing for the return of beloved events and assured that the Huladays would bring an array of exciting activities and communal fun. A tent will provide shade, ensuring comfort for all attendees as they revel in the festivities on downtown Portsmouth’s streets.

The primary goal of Hallmark Hometown Huladays is to generate funds for holiday lighting for MSPiB and FOP. The planning team has spent months brainstorming this holiday-themed fundraiser with the hope of enhancing the city’s light display. “Our ambition to enrich the holiday season’s allure is a testament to our commitment to the community’s wellbeing and prosperity,” Smith remarked, noting the importance of the holiday season in attracting visitors and benefiting local businesses.

Tickets for this special event are readily available for purchase at the Scioto County Community Action Organization Welcome Center, Neal Hatcher Real Estate Office, and through the organizations’ Facebook pages. The Hallmark Hometown Huladays is scheduled for July 20, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., spanning Court Street from Front to Second Streets. It promises a memorable Christmas in July experience for Portsmouth residents and visitors alike, underlining the community’s spirit of unity and celebration.

This initiative serves not only as a fundraiser but also as a vibrant demonstration of the collaborative spirit within Portsmouth, showcasing the collective efforts of local organizations to bring joy and festivity to their community while supporting the enchanting and bright future of the town’s holiday seasons.
