Eloma to Begin Operations with Syrian Airlines Within a Month
The Syrian Airlines landscape is set for a significant transformation as it welcomes the integration of a new private company, Eloma, which will commence its operations within a month. The announcement was made by the Director General of Syrian Airlines, Hatem Kabas, highlighting a strategic shift towards privatization in the management, development, and investment within the aviation sector of Syria.
In an intriguing development, the incorporation of Eloma into the operations of Syrian Airlines marks a pivotal moment for the airline. According to Kabas, Eloma will be responsible for a broad spectrum of activities including planning and organization in aviation sectors while Syrian Airlines will shift its focus towards overseeing the execution of the contract’s terms. This partnership signifies a vital stride towards enhancing the efficiency and service quality of Syrian Airlines.
The investigative work by Enab Baladi has unveiled that Eloma is not just any ordinary company. Established by Bashar and Asma al-Assad, the company surfaced through the official gazette’s records. The launch of Eloma, directly associated with the presidential palace, underscores a significant move towards leveraging private investment in Syria’s aviation and tourism sector through strategic management and development initiatives.
Kabas reassured that the collaboration with Eloma would not alter the identity of Syrian Airlines. The airline’s name and logo are to remain unchanged, confirming that the essence of Syrian Airlines will be preserved despite the new managerial dynamics.
Anticipations are high regarding the potential improvements set to unfold at Damascus International Airport and beyond. These enhancements span a varied spectrum, from infrastructural upgrades at the airport to augmentations in ground equipment. Notably, the investment is directed towards bettering the livelihood of the employees, including pilots and technicians, through salary and wage enhancements, expanding the civil aviation fleet, and revitalizing grounded aircraft. These initiatives are expected to drastically improve the operational capabilities of Syrian Airlines.
Eloma’s objectives extend beyond mere management. The company aims to revolutionize the tourism and airport service industries by engaging in bids and tenders with the public sector, investing in companies across various industries, and acquiring land and real estate to further its ambitions, excluding residential property trade and construction.
In a move that underscores the expanding horizon of Syrian aviation, Syrian Airlines is poised to initiate flights to Bahrain by the end of the month. This development is in the footsteps of increased flight frequencies to Riyadh, indicating a resurgence in demand and a positive trajectory towards normalizing and extending international air travel connections after years of hiatus.
The integration of Eloma within the framework of Syrian Airlines comes at a time when the Syrian aviation industry faces criticism for service quality and operational management. This partnership is viewed as a beacon of reform, aimed at addressing these criticisms by injecting efficiency, transparency, and improved service standards into the sector.
As Syrian Airlines embarks on this new chapter with Eloma, the aviation landscape of Syria is on the cusp of witnessing a transformative era that promises enhanced operational efficiencies, revitalized international connections, and improved service standards for passengers. This ambitious collaboration is keenly awaited both domestically and internationally.
