Dalian’s Fruit Harvest: Exceptional Quality and Lower Prices This Season

“Dalian Nectarines, Cherries, and Other Fruits Show Improved Quality This Season, with Lower Prices”

The production season for nectarines, plums, cherries, and other fruits from Dalian, China, is now underway. Due to a rapid temperature increase, these fruits have entered the market over ten days earlier than usual. They are currently available in large quantities and are expected to reach peak flavor by the end of March.

“The overall quality of this season’s fruits is superior to previous years, with excellent taste, sweetness, and firmness. Yields have also remained relatively stable,” remarked Mr. Li from the Dalian Nongfutong Fruit and Vegetable Professional Cooperative.

When the season began, prices were similar to those in previous years, but they have since decreased significantly and are currently lower than during the same period in past seasons. For example, the current farm price of Dalian cherries is approximately ï¿¥100-120 per kilogram, reflecting a 25%-35% decrease compared to previous years. Prices for nectarines and plums have also declined. This price drop is attributed to weak consumer demand and the competitive low prices of imported stone fruits, which have influenced the domestic market.

In terms of exports, Dalian-grown fruits have gained increasing popularity internationally. During the first half of the stone fruit season, nectarines and plums are in high demand in Russia and Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, in the latter part of the apple season, locally grown apples are predominantly exported to the Philippines and Dubai. “Taste and price remain our key competitive advantages,” Mr. Li highlighted.

The Russian market has shown a preference for nectarines and black plums, which are shipped via Horgos Port. This logistics advantage comes with low transportation costs and fast delivery times. The Southeast Asian market, on the other hand, leans towards red fruits, particularly Dalian nectarines, which are widely sold in local wholesale markets and supermarkets.

Currently, the export price for nectarines and plums has fallen by about 20% compared to previous years. However, with enhanced taste and quality, Dalian’s competitive edge has strengthened. There is an optimistic anticipation of increased export orders in the future.

Dalian Nongfutong Cooperative takes pride in specializing in cherries, nectarines, plums, and apples, managing both cultivation and domestic/export sales. Their distribution channels encompass wholesale markets, supermarkets, and e-commerce platforms.
