In an effort to secure a steady supply of essential items during the Spring Festival holiday, China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has escalated its actions. The initiative emphasizes enhancing source products for sufficient stock and ensuring the timely distribution of goods to consumers. Additionally, the MOC is improving logistics to make essential goods readily available.
Nationwide, the supply of necessities has remained stable, with a notable increase in supermarket inventories of staple foods such as grain, cooking oil, meat, and eggs, which have risen by 10 to 20 percent in 36 major cities since the beginning of the year, as per the latest MOC figures. This year, the Spring Festival, a period marked by family gatherings and celebrations, is scheduled from February 10 to 17.
