Share

In an auspicious celebration marking six decades of diplomatic relations, Singapore and Thailand have unveiled a special commemorative logo. Designed by Thai artist Atcharaporn Ponsong, this emblem was officially introduced at a launch event held at Siam Paragon in Bangkok on January 24, 2025.

The ceremony was attended by distinguished figures including Catherine Wong, the Singapore Ambassador to Thailand, and Lalivan Karnchanachari, Thailand’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the event, the Vice Minister reflected on the enduring friendship between Thailand and Singapore, expressing congratulations on the milestone anniversary of Singapore’s founding.

The Singapore Embassy in Thailand hailed the event as a celebratory beginning to a series of commemorative events planned throughout the year, reinforcing the strong ties shared by the two nations in Southeast Asia.

The creation of the commemorative logo was part of a competition organized by the Singapore Embassy in Thailand. Held between October 11 and November 15 of the previous year, the competition attracted over 70 innovative submissions from residents of Singapore and Thailand. Ponsong’s victorious design was praised for its ability to seamlessly blend the cultures of both countries, promoting the theme “Singapore-Thailand: Realising Opportunities for New Growth” or “STRONG@60.”

As recognition for her creative achievement, Ponsong was awarded 40,000 baht, a round-trip economy class ticket on Singapore Airlines (covering routes between Bangkok/Phuket and Singapore), and a three-day, two-night stay at a Frasers Hospitality serviced residence.

The judging panel, which included Ambassador Wong, Thailand’s Ambassador to Singapore Ureerat Charoentoh, Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Loy Hui Chien, and the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Piyapak Sricharoen, assessed each entry for its creativity and representation of the bilateral connection.

The winning logo beautifully encapsulates the friendship between Thailand and Singapore. It symbolically features an elephant, Thailand’s national animal, alongside a lion, representing Singapore’s famed epithet as the Lion City. The national flags of both nations are also tastefully integrated within the design, with the number 60 prominently featured to symbolize the Diamond Jubilee of their diplomatic relations.

During the event, Ambassador Wong and Vice Minister Karnchanachari delivered speeches that not only celebrated the rich history shared by the two countries but also looked forward to deepening their collaborative efforts in the future. The Vice Minister highlighted Singapore’s role as Thailand’s leading foreign investor in 2024, emphasizing the robust economic ties that signify a promising investment climate within the region.

In attendance at the launch were representatives from the Singapore-Thai Chambers of Commerce, among them Dr. Alan Lim from Foamtec International Co Ltd, reflecting the strong commercial ties that continue to nurture the bond between the nations.

The unveiling of the commemorative logo is more than a celebration of past accomplishments; it signifies an ongoing commitment to fostering new opportunities and strengthening the partnership between Singapore and Thailand.
