Brand Welcomhotel Expands Presence in South India with Welcomhotel Madikeri

Marking a significant milestone in its expansion in South India, ITC Hotels has announced a new addition to its portfolio through a management agreement with Narne Hotels and Resorts Private Limited. The upcoming Welcomhotel Madikeri, nestled in the picturesque hill town of Madikeri in Karnataka’s Kodagu district, aims to redefine luxury and hospitality in the region.

Strategically located on the bustling MG Road at the heart of Madikeri, Welcomhotel Madikeri is set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Western Ghats. The town, also known as Coorg, is famed for its historical and natural attractions. The Raja’s Seat, a 200-year-old monument offering stunning views of the surrounding forests and paddy fields, and the 17th-century Madikeri Fort, with its iconic pair of stone elephants, stand testament to the area’s rich cultural heritage. Furthermore, the sacred Omkareshwar Temple and the picturesque Abbey Falls add to the allure of Madikeri, making it a must-visit destination for travelers.

The region’s coffee plantations, spice trails, and the rare spectacle of the Neelakurinji flower blooming once every 12 years, present a myriad of experiences for visitors. With its lush landscapes, Kodagu district has become a coveted spot for both leisure and business travelers, seeking to immerse themselves in its unique offerings ranging from spiritual sites to adventure and leisure activities.

Anil Chadha, Divisional Chief Executive of ITC Hotels, shared his enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Madikeri is an important market for ITC Hotels. The area’s increasing popularity and the unique cultural and natural experiences it offers make it a perfect location for leisure travel. Through Welcomhotel Madikeri, we aim to bring the distinctive hospitality of ITC Hotels to this enchanting city.”

He further elaborated on the significance of Madikeri within the Kodava culture, highlighting the region’s heritage cuisine, which continues to attract culinary enthusiasts.

Welcomhotel Madikeri promises an unparalleled hospitality experience, featuring two signature restaurants and bars, a cosy lounge, and extensive meeting space spanning over 1,300 sq mt. This new venture not only solidifies ITC Hotels’ presence in Karnataka, where it already operates 11 hotels under various brands but also emphasizes the group’s commitment to promoting regional cuisine and culture.

Saibabu Appalaneni, CEO of Narne Hotel and Resorts Private Limited, expressed his optimism about the collaboration, stating, “Signing with the Welcomhotel brand by ITC Hotels for our Madikeri project is a step towards realizing the potential of this beautiful destination. Known for their expertise in hospitality and dedication to celebrating regional cuisine, we are confident that Welcomhotel Madikeri will offer a memorable experience to its guests.”

As Welcomhotel Madikeri prepares to welcome its first guests, the partnership between ITC Hotels and Narne Hotels and Resorts Private Limited highlights a shared vision of excellence and innovation in hospitality, promising to set new benchmarks in the industry.
