11th Meeting of Kyrgyz-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission Held in Tashkent

In a significant stride towards bolstering bilateral relations, the 11th meeting of the intergovernmental commission between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan was conducted in Tashkent, marking a pivotal moment in the history of the two nations’ collaborative efforts. This event, under the distinguished chairmanship of Akylbek Zhaparov, head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, sets a cornerstone for future cooperation.

The venue served as a platform for discussing several crucial matters that underscore the evolving dynamic of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations. Sanzharbek Bolotov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, took the lead in presenting a comprehensive report on the progress achieved since the 10th protocol of the intergovernmental commission. Bolotov’s exposition also covered the primary vectors of trade and economic relations between the two countries, laying the groundwork for the discussions that followed.

Critical projects were at the forefront of the discussions, each promising to elevate the bilateral ties to new heights. Notable among these initiatives were efforts to escalate trade turnover to 2 billion US dollars, the establishment of Trading Houses in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan respectively, and Kyrgyzstan’s participation in the “International Trade Center Termez” project. Additionally, a project concerning the assembly production of automobile and commercial vehicles in the Kyrgyz Republic was highlighted, alongside the vital operations of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund.

The meeting also led to the formulation of decisions on bilateral contracts, which include the supply of passenger elevators, the creation of service centers for equipment maintenance, the establishment of joint textile clusters, and significant developments regarding the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund’s authorized capital. These discussions are poised to fortify the foundation for the upcoming visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to Uzbekistan, further amplifying the spectrum of bilateral cooperation.

An underlying theme of the gathering was the acknowledgment of the paramount importance of sustaining a high level of trust and mutual understanding between both nations. Such a conducive atmosphere is deemed essential for the fruitful realization of shared projects and the attainment of collective aspirations, paving the way for a future marked by prosperity and close cooperation.

The outcomes of the 11th meeting signal a promising horizon for Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations, characterized by extensive collaboration and strategic partnerships. As both nations venture forward, the commitment to deepening their ties stands as a testament to their dedication to mutual progress and regional stability.
