Amber Wings Unveils Vihaa Drone to Enhance Agriculture Sector in India

New Delhi: Amber Wings, a promising UAV startup, has introduced an innovative agricultural drone named ‘Vihaa’ tailored to transform Indian farming practices. This development brings a more efficient and faster solution for crop management to the forefront of the agricultural sector.

The agricultural drone, Vihaa, was recently certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Designed with the potential to revolutionize farming operations across India, Vihaa can apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments to crops up to seven times faster than traditional manual methods. This advancement facilitates significant time and resource savings for both farmers and agricultural businesses.

According to IIT Madras Prof Satya Chakravarthy, who serves as the Founder, Chief, and Technical Lead of Ubifly Technologies, “Introducing ‘Vihaa’ marks a pivotal moment in our journey to enhance agricultural practices in India. Our mission has always been to provide innovative solutions that empower farmers and drive industry growth.”

Prof Chakravarthy further emphasized, “With ‘Vihaa,’ we are not just offering a tool but a partner in modern farming, aiming to make advanced technology accessible across the country and support the broader drone technology sector’s development.”

Amber Wings, a sister brand of the well-regarded flying taxi startup The ePlane Company, was incubated at IIT Madras. The company currently provides spraying services in several Indian states, including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, and plans to extend its reach in the months ahead.

Beyond the Vihaa agridrone, Amber Wings is actively working on other drone solutions. The Atva series of drones, another initiative by the company, is designed to meet the needs of logistics and e-commerce companies, focusing on package delivery and aerial imaging. Amber Wings is also in the process of prototyping a 50-kg payload drone, aimed at expanding its service capabilities significantly.

Chakravarthy expressed, “We believe drone technology has the power to transform industries and unlock new possibilities for businesses. By offering end-to-end solutions and building a strong ecosystem, we aim to drive the growth of drone adoption across India.”

As Amber Wings and its innovations like the Vihaa drone gain traction, the Indian agriculture sector is poised for significant technological advancements, providing farmers with the tools necessary to improve productivity and efficiency.
