Almirall Unveils Act4Impact 2030: A Bold Leap Towards Sustainability

Almirall, S.A., a leader in medical dermatology, proudly announces the launch of its refined sustainability initiative, Act4Impact 2030. Aimed at reshaping its approach to sustainability, this strategy is built on five foundational pillars: “Planet”, “People”, “Patients”, “Partners”, and “Principles”. Act4Impact charts a course with 20 strategic actions to foster long-term positive impacts on patients, the medical community, and society at large.

At the heart of the Act4Impact strategy is Almirall’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The company has set ambitious objectives to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, with interim targets of reducing emissions by 50% from its own operations and by 28% from its value chain by 2030. Almirall plans to reach these goals through initiatives focusing on energy decarbonization, sustainable mobility, and engaging suppliers in its sustainability efforts. Additional measures include enhancing water stewardship, adopting circular economy principles, and preserving natural habitats.

In addressing the “People” pillar, Almirall emphasizes a diverse and inclusive workplace. The company is dedicated to implementing a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program, addressing equity gaps such as the gender pay disparity, and fostering a corporate culture that values mental and physical well-being. A testament to its commitment, Almirall will introduce new social action and volunteering programs to engage and support communities.

The “Patients” pillar reiterates Almirall’s pledge to place patients at the core of its mission. By augmenting patient-centric initiatives and bolstering collaborations with patient organizations, Almirall aims to impact over 1.8 million lives positively through its dermatology portfolio by 2030.

Under the “Partners” pillar, Almirall sets a target to reduce CO emissions by 69% among its suppliers by 2030. The company plans to achieve this through sustainable procurement practices and by enrolling suppliers in its Net Zero Supplier Engagement initiative, promoting a alignment towards sustainability goals across its supply chain.

Ensuring adherence to the highest standards of ethical principles and transparency, Almirall commits to providing all employees with sustainability training by 2030. This effort seeks to build a corporate culture that is deeply rooted in ethical practices, accountability, and performance excellence.

Carlos Gallardo, Almirall’s CEO and President, states, “Our Act4Impact strategy represents a cornerstone of our business, reflecting our dedication to making a meaningful, positive impact on society, aligning with our mission to transform patients’ lives.” Almirall’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, earning the company prestigious accolades for its commitment to sustainability, amongst them high ratings from Sustainalytics, outstanding scores from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), and a platinum medal from Ecovadis.

Founded in 1944 and headquartered in Barcelona, Almirall has evolved into a global powerhouse in medical dermatology, committed to innovation and improving patient lives. With a presence in over 100 countries and a workforce of 1900 employees, the company continues to lead by example, leveraging its rich history and expertise to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Almirall’s journey towards sustainability and corporate responsibility underscores its vision of fostering a healthier world. As the company embarks on its Act4Impact 2030 strategy, it sets a benchmark for how companies can integrate sustainability into their core operations and ethos, paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future.
