OG Capital Appoints Apurva Beniwal as VP of Investments
Ortella Global Capital (OG Capital), a prominent venture capital firm, has recently announced the appointment of Apurva Beniwal as Vice President of Investments and Strategy. Beniwal brings a wealth of experience spanning across investing, entrepreneurship, and operations.
Before joining OG Capital, Beniwal played a significant role as a junior partner at a gender-focused fund, where her input was instrumental in a variety of investments across 14 startups. Notable mentions include Clovia, which was acquired by Reliance, and Hair Originals. In addition to her role in investments, Beniwal took on the entrepreneurial challenge by co-founding a beauty commerce startup, where she was deeply involved in product development, crafting go-to-market strategies, and spearheading customer acquisition efforts.
Beniwal expressed her enthusiasm about joining OG Capital by stating, “Having been on both sides, I have seen how hands-on collaboration unlocks exponential value if provided at the right time. OG Capital’s co-building model resonates deeply with my belief that great investors do not just fund ideas; they help build them. This also means championing female founders who are redefining industries and having more women climb up the ladder in venture capital. I am here to back bold teams who prove that they have the hunger to win against the odds.”
OG Capital currently manages a Rs 300 crore fund concentrated on early- and growth-stage startups in both consumer and enterprise sectors. They uniquely blend capital investment with operational involvement, having already made three investments so far. The fund’s strategy includes plans to invest in over 20 companies, with individual ticket sizes going up to Rs 15 crore. The firm aims for a 50%+ compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and strives for 10x returns.
Sayan Ghosh, Co-founder and Managing Partner of OG Capital, has a high regard for Beniwal’s capabilities. “From optimizing product-market fit to unlocking new revenue streams, she helps founders fine-tune strategies, break into new markets, and build repeatable, scalable, and profitable business models that drive exponential growth. Her ability to transform ambiguity into a structured growth plan and then execute it alongside founders aligns perfectly with our philosophy of co-building,” Ghosh remarked.
Furthermore, Beniwal is recognized for her active advocacy for greater inclusion within the venture capital industry. She has shared her insights at numerous significant events, including SuperReturn, FICCI FLO, and Startup India.
