Pakistan Railways Set to Launch Modern Train on Lahore-Karachi Route
Pakistan Railways is gearing up to launch a high-speed express train connecting Lahore and Karachi, with the aim of providing enhanced services to its passengers. This new service is poised to offer advanced amenities similar to those experienced on the Green-Line Express.
According to a railway official, concerted efforts are underway by teams from relevant departments to ensure the successful launch of this modern train. The anticipated launch date is set for the end of January 2025. The new service underscores Pakistan Railways’ commitment to enhancing passenger experience by incorporating new technology into locally produced coaches. This strategic move is intended to eliminate the reliance on imports.
Additionally, Pakistan Railways is taking significant steps to improve food quality and ensure a clean environment on board, promising passengers a comfortable and hygienic journey.
The Green-Line Express, which serves as an inspiration for this new service, was inaugurated in 2015. The train has been a benchmark for quality service, covering the route from Islamabad’s Margalla Railway Station to Karachi Cantonment Station in approximately 20 hours, making stops at important locations such as Rawalpindi, Lahore, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Sukkar/Rohri, Hyderabad, and Drigh Road.
The Green-Line Express offers multiple classes to suit diverse passenger needs, including AC, AC parlour, and Economy Class options, alongside a modern dining car renowned for its high-quality service. With similar standards expected on the new Lahore-Karachi route, passengers can look forward to a superior travel experience.
As Pakistan Railways continues to focus on improving passenger services and efficiency through modern technology, this new express train service is anticipated to be a significant milestone in the country’s rail transport history.
