Green Tech Accelerator: Driving Industrial Carbon Reduction and Sustainability with Textiles, Circular Packaging, and Smart Driving

The Green Tech Accelerator (GTA) has taken significant strides in supporting startups that are focused on the innovative areas of textile waste recycling, circular packaging, and smart driving solutions. By integrating cutting-edge technologies and tapping into international markets, GTA is making substantial contributions to industries’ carbon reduction efforts and pushing towards a more sustainable future.

Textile Recycling Innovation: Circulating Waste into Treasure

Among the noteworthy innovations is by the startup Strongwises, which has developed a unique method of transforming old clothes into eco-friendly building materials called “E F Wood.” These materials are suitable for applications such as roofs and flooring. Having made a successful entry into the international market, Strongwises has teamed up with prominent companies like McDonald’s to recycle old clothes and plastic containers, creating circular wooden walkways. Supported by GTA, Strongwises has secured valuable grants, technical certifications, and market expansion opportunities. Plans are underway to establish a demonstration site in Singapore to further promote the applications of the circular economy.

Meanwhile, Pade is tackling the textile recycling issue through optical technology, significantly boosting the efficiency of sorting used clothes. This technology has extended to smart recycling bins and handheld sorting devices, pushing the development of a circular economy in textiles from the upstream recycling process. By joining GTA, Pade has enhanced its knowledge on carbon reduction and capitalized on international exhibition opportunities.

New Circular Packaging Solutions: Reducing Waste and Expanding International Markets

PackAge+ is pioneering in the domain of circular packaging technology. The startup aids corporations, including TSMC, in reducing carbon emissions and integrating these results into their ESG reports. With support from GTA, PackAge+ has forayed into the Middle Eastern market and successfully launched Series A funding. The company plans to advance B2B applications and implement circular economy solutions in practical scenarios.

Renouvo represents another innovative approach, as it transforms agricultural waste like sugarcane bagasse and coffee grounds into biodegradable straws and utensils. This process utilizes green energy aimed at minimizing their carbon footprint. With 80% of their sales attributed to exports to Europe, Renouvo has been guided by GTA to enter the Middle Eastern market and refine a “negative carbon” concept. Looking forward, they plan to introduce waterproof sugarcane bags to replace plastic ones in the food industry.

Smart Driving Solution: Autonomous Services with Reduced Labor and Carbon Emission

Turing Drive has emerged as a leader in offering autonomous driving and operations management systems, beneficial in environments such as ports and scenic areas. These systems aim to improve efficiency while reducing carbon emissions. Collaboration with GTA has enabled Turing Drive to quantify carbon reduction impacts effectively using data, leading to successful market entry in Japan and forming partnerships with local transportation companies. This highlights the global competitiveness of their innovative technology.

Looking to the future, Green Tech Accelerator remains committed to advancing the adoption of carbon reduction solutions across varied industries. By aligning with global net-zero trends and resources, and integrating a diverse array of green technologies, GTA is capable of maximizing impact. Intending to deploy energy-saving technologies at operational demonstration sites, GTA also empowers startups to enhance their business models, value propositions, and marketing and R&D capabilities. For demand-side clients, GTA equips them with robust carbon management strategies, ESG resources, and green supply chain certification, thus laying a solid foundation for future carbon credit development.

The Green Tech Accelerator’s goal is to develop an industry co-creation platform that redefines the value proposition of startups. This initiative focuses on providing economical solutions for clients and assisting SMEs in reducing carbon emissions. By connecting with the global green technology ecosystem, the benefits of carbon reduction are extended to the supply chain. The continued promotion of co-creation between startups and industries remains a pivotal aspect of achieving comprehensive green and sustainable development.
