In a commendable commitment to giving back during the sacred month of Ramadan, the DP World Foundation, in collaboration with the Dubai Charity Association, has undertaken a significant initiative to distribute daily iftar meals to workers within the JAFZA (Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority) community. The initiative, reflecting the spirit of tolerance, compassion, and community integral to Ramadan, has been set to deliver an impressive tally of 360,000 meals over the course of the holy month.
Through this admirable campaign, DP World Foundation—the philanthropic arm of DP World—aims to foster a sense of solidarity and cultural harmony among the diverse populace in the UAE. This initiative not only illustrates the values deeply enshrined in the Emirati culture of coexistence but also reinforces the communal atmosphere of closeness and solidarity characteristic of Ramadan.
A delegation comprising senior management from DP World and the Dubai Charity Association made a visit to one of the three dedicated Iftar tents in Jafza, engaging with volunteers and members of the community. This visit underscored the collective effort and commitment to this cause.
Nasser Abdulla, Vice Chairman of the DP World Foundation, remarked on the initiative, highlighting how it reflects the core values of the Emirati culture that champions coexistence. This program, launched in the month of Ramadan, seeks to embody the unique social fabric of the UAE, characterized by its rich diversity.
Echoing this sentiment, Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Suwaidi, CEO of Dubai Charity Association, expressed delight in the partnership with DP World Foundation. He noted that this collaboration is in line with Dubai Charity’s strategy and values, which aim at fostering a culture of volunteerism and enhancing humanitarian engagement across societal segments. Al-Suwaidi emphasized that their approach is inspired by the humanitarian principles established by the late founding father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, setting a global benchmark in humanitarian and development efforts.
Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, also highlighted the initiative’s significance during Ramadan—a month symbolic of community and generosity. Initiatives like these, he noted, are pivotal in nurturing strong interpersonal relationships across different cultures and nationalities.
With the UAE being home to over 200 nationalities and languages, projects like these underline the unity amidst diversity that defines the country. Through collaborations such as this, DP World Foundation and DP World are leveraging their resources, expertise, and network to address vital social challenges, thereby empowering individuals and communities.
The DP World Foundation’s mission revolves around empowering communities through focused support in crucial areas like health, education, and food security. Operating in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the foundation prioritizes initiatives that enhance social and economic well-being, making a lasting and tangible impact on communities.
DP World, on the other hand, is dedicated to enhancing the global trade flow, leveraging its diverse, professional team spread across six continents to create more seamless supply chain solutions. By integrating its services—ranging from Ports and Terminals to Logistics and Technology—DP World is keen on driving innovation that can potentially redefine the future of trade, thus ensuring a more connected and efficient global trading ecosystem.
