Atos Announces New Riyadh Headquarters and Sports Technology Center

Atos, a leading global information technology services company, has revealed its plans to establish a Sports Technology Center by the second quarter of 2024. This initiative is part of the company’s strategy to set up its new headquarters for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in Riyadh.

The announcement was made during the LEAP 2024 conference, highlighting Atos’ commitment to enhancing its IT services and solutions for global sports events. The Sports Technology Center of Excellence aims to revolutionize the sports sector in Saudi Arabia by developing innovative technology applications. These advancements are expected to benefit athletes, fans, and the entire sports industry in the region.

Marc Veelenturf, CEO for the Middle East and Turkiye at Atos, emphasized the potential impact of the new center. “Through the Sports Technology Center of Excellence, Atos will empower organizations in Saudi Arabia with the technologies needed to thrive in the Kingdom’s digital economy. Using our advanced digital tools and IT solutions, the center will serve as a hub for technology and digital innovation for major events in the region,” he said.

By establishing its new headquarters and center of excellence in Riyadh, Atos aims to support Saudi Arabia’s public sector initiatives and transformation projects. This includes contribution to various giga-projects and smart destinations such as Expo 2030 and the Saudi Entertainment and Amusement Expo.

Mutaz Salem, general manager at Atos, shared his vision for the company’s role in the Kingdom. “Atos will enable Saudi’s major projects to become pioneering, future-proof smart destinations rooted in tradition, sport, and culture. Our strong expertise and experience will be pivotal in achieving this goal,” Salem expressed.

The Sports Technology Center of Excellence is strategically located in the heart of Riyadh to optimize its services for major events. This location aims to ensure seamless technology operations, orchestrating flawless execution and secure data flow for various events.

Javier Escudero, commercial director at Atos’ Major Events arm, highlighted the company’s extensive experience in the field. “Our center of excellence will provide major events with seamless technology, guaranteeing secure data flow and flawless operations. Atos has a unique track record in sports, having contributed to over 25 Asian projects including the Olympic Games, and Asian, Arab, and Gulf Games. Our innovative solutions will serve as the backbone for organizers, enabling them to captivate audiences worldwide while ensuring reliability and precision behind the scenes,” Escudero said.

This endeavor showcases Atos’ dedication to leveraging digitalization for enhancing the global sports industry, particularly in the burgeoning digital economy of Saudi Arabia. Through the establishment of its new MENA headquarters and Sports Technology Center of Excellence in Riyadh, Atos is set to play a pivotal role in transforming the Kingdom into a leading smart destination, rooted in tradition but primed for the future.
