The Crowne Plaza at Manchester Airport, a favorite lodging for travelers, has joyfully announced its reopening after a comprehensive refurbishment costing £8 million. The renovation, following the first phase of an extensive improvement plan, now invites guests to experience its rejuvenated features.
Boasting a strategic location adjacent to Terminal 1 and 3, the hotel’s makeover aims to present a ‘bright and homely’ ambiance. This transformation intends to cater to the diverse needs of guests, whether they wish to work, socialize, or simply unwind in comfort. The 299-bed establishment now features an inviting all-day lounge bar and a spacious open lobby area, signaling the successful commencement of its ambitious revamp.
In addition to these new offerings, the Crowne Plaza ensures that guest conveniences remain at the forefront. Among the accessible amenities are a 24-hour gym, Callaghan’s Irish Bar for a taste of conviviality, eight versatile meeting rooms for business and social gatherings, and a dedicated business center for professional needs.
Culinary delights await at The Grill restaurant, where guests can start their day with a sumptuous breakfast or conclude their evening with an exquisite dinner. The menu here is an ode to modern cuisine, featuring beloved classics such as fish and chips, chicken makhani curry, sirloin steak, alongside a selection of pastas and pizzas.
As part of the IHG Hotels family, utmost attention has been given to ensuring each room combines modern aesthetics with comfort. The updated rooms now boast high-quality Egyptian cotton sheets for a luxurious sleep, large flat-screen TVs for entertainment, bathtubs for relaxation, and double-glazed windows to minimize external noise, creating a serene haven for guests.

This grand refurbishment is part of the larger ten-year £1.3bn Manchester Airport Transformation project spearheaded by MAG (Manchester Airports Group), poised to inject significant economic value, bring jobs, and foster business growth in the area. With projections indicating a £6.3bn boost to the Northern economy by 2040, this initiative marks a significant investment in the region’s future.
Adding to the transformation, the expansion of Terminal 2, aimed to be completed by 2025, will see the terminal accommodating approximately 80% of all passengers, leading to the eventual closure of Terminal 1. This advancement is expected to streamline airport operations and enhance passenger experiences significantly.
